The composites industry in Europe, and recently in the USA, presented 3B-the fibreglass company with three prestigious innovation awards. Here, at the annual JEC Show, undoubtedly one of the world’s biggest industry platforms, 3B won the JEC Innovation Award in the Construction Category, and earlier this year at the American Composites Manufacturers Association’s (ACMA) trade show 3B collected two awards for the Green Design Category and Infinite Market Growth Category.
“This is a fantastic achievement for 3B and illustrates the global composites industry’s recognition of our leading-edge technology and highly innovative, durable and sustainable solutions,” said Hugues Jacquemin, CEO.
“We have been in business for almost three years. The competition we were facing was unquestionably formidable, but these industry recognitions demonstrate you don’t have to be a huge company to have great, successful ideas,” he added.
The JEC Innovation Award in the Construction Category was attributed to 3B’s pioneering pultruded reinforced composite cladding solution allowing architects King Roselli Architetti of Rome scope to conceive a distinctive, contemporary design for the Sheraton Hotel at Malpensa airport, Milan Italy. Emmanuelle David, Business Development Manager, Building and Construction at 3B will be presenting the technology behind this application during the Construction and Civil Engineering End-User Forum on Tuesday, March 29.
At the Composites 2011 (ACMA) trade show held in the USA in February, 3B was honoured with not one, but two ACE Awards. Firstly, the Innovation in Green Composites Technology Award (Design Category) was presented to 3B who, together with Reprocover (Belgium), developed the recycling of production waste into original composite applications.
Up to 90% recycled materials, such as fibre-glass waste is used in the manufacturing process for sewage trapdoors, manholes and utility access holes which best exemplified innovation that minimizes the environmental footprint of the end product.
And secondly, in the Infinite Market Growth Category, the Composites Sustainability Award was attributed to GASTANK (Sweden AB) and 3B for the CNG tanks manufactured using HiPer-tex™ fibre which demonstrates the improvement in the environmental impact of a product in an application that supports the attributes of sustainability as defined by the products’ use phase in sustainable development.
Hugues Jacquemin: “At 3B we strive to be entrepreneurial and innovative, together we are committed to what we do and the industry’s recognition represents a tremendous incentive to our young company.
These awards are the result of a real team effort both internally an externally with partners, a testimony to hard work and creativity and will inspire and give us confidence to continue developing game-changing, innovative composite solutions to drive our business, our customers’ business and our industry forward.”
